Team
The diverse ValueChecker team originates from four continents. Our main office is in Stockholm, Sweden supported by a wonderful team in Banjul, the Gambia.
Arie Struik
Founder and CEO
Back in 1998 Arie tried to buy the best video camera at the right price for the birth of his first son. So many products, reviews, and prices but no simple overview. The solution became alaTest, the first global reviews and product information aggregator. Together with his friend since birth Willem, this eventually – 2 more sons and 2 daughters later – led to the ValueChecker.
Arie studied business at Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands and has an international masters degree from EAP – ESCP (Paris, Oxford, Berlin). Prior to alaTest / ValueChecker, he held various senior positions at Lidl, Spray and Nike.
Willem van der Hooft
Co-Founder
Willem has many years experience in developing the business for international insurance services provider Van Ameyde.
A few years after joining alaTest’s Board, he suggested to use alaTest’s huge product database and technologies to help insurance companies: ValueChecker.
Before Van Ameyde, Willem worked as Interim Manager at Yacht. He’s a business graduate from Open University and the Haarlem School of Business. When he’s not running BizDev, he’s running marathons or beating Arie in yet another sport.
Erik Ohlzon
Head of Technology
Since 2017 Erik runs the Technology team. This basically means all of the company. His extensive experience covers both software and hardware technology during his globetrotting past in the USA, Asia and Europe.
Erik has a solid foundation in high availability development and is a cryptocurrency, powerlifting and sailing enthusiast.
Christian Hanséus
CFO & BizDev
Christian joined in 2013 as the overall responsible for the financial numbers to add up. Besides shared responsibility for the development of the business, as part of the management team he’s also involved in with HR and all operational matters.
He is a masters graduate of the Stockholm School of Economics / Handelshögskolan and since 2019 a proud father.

Peter Björk
Back in 2005 became the co-founder and COO of alaTest, until 2012. Online marketing guru on the consultant and industry side. Probably the fittest investor in the industry.
Patrick de Muynck
Belgian, English and /or Swedish co private equity captain of industry. Loves to bike and developing his horse farm.
Dick Seger
Also called “Sweden’s Steve Jobs”, but with a much softer Swedish management style.
Inventor, founder & CEO of Verisure / Securitas Direct.
Peter Nilsson
Swedish – but also Dutch speaking – International Management and Board guru. When not helping companies grow he’s enjoying some serious road biking.
